How to Save on Produce Sales and Markdowns

One of the best ways to stock up on expensive produce is to get it when it is on sale or on managers mark down. You can either incorporate these sale items into your upcoming meal plan, or freeze for later. Examples would be items like red-taped bananas, organic spinach, mangoes and avocados on sale.

Before you plan your meal out, see what types of Buy One Get One Free coupons you can find. This will save you up to 50% off your meal.  Below are some of my favorite places to find good coupons.

Instead of going out to eat, spend less and enjoy time with Dad at your leisure. Here are a few ideas to help you out depending on which store you shop.

  • Folk Festival and Car Show – Free event in Murfreesboro, Saturday, June 19th
  • Moon Pie Festival – Free event in Bell Buckle, Saturday, June 19th ($1 suggested donation for flood victims)

Free Weekend Events

Are you looking for some fun and free things to do this weekend, well here is a list to get you started.

Saturday, June 5

  • McKay’s Mill Neighborhood Yard Sale: 8am – large community garage sale in Franklin
  • Centennial Park Big Band Dances: Take the family to learn the Foxtrot and kick off this summer’s Centennial Park Big Band Dances with the Moonlighters – Free concert with free dance lessons by Dance World. From 7-10 p.m. Go to Nashville Parks site for the summer schedule.
  • National Trails Day:  Free programs at area Metro parks and nature centers–hikes, cleanups, biking events, nature classes and even a few history lessons. See the Nashville Parks site for more details. Don’t forget the sunscreen and bug spray.
  • The Home Depot Kids Workshop: Go from 9a – noon to make a miniature Soccer Game.
  • Barnes and Noble Storytime:  From 11a-noon visit the Mallory Lane (Franklin) store for  kids story time. Call 615-377-9979 for more details.
  • Davis Kidd Star Wars Family Fun Day: Head to the Green Hills Davis Kidd, where you can meet your favorite Star Wars character! They’ll have face painting, games, crafts and more! And if you come in costume, you can enter their costume contest.

Sunday, June 6

  • Crockett Park: The park in Brentwood has a series of 7 p.m. Sunday concerts through July. The lineup features Little Texas on June 6.
  • 66th Anniversary of D Day:  Ft. Campbell‘s 101st Airborne was among the sailors and soldiers who helped to free Europe from Nazi rule 66 years ago Sunday.
  • Krispy Kreme BOGOF Sundae: Every Sunday through September, you can get a free Krispy Kreme sundae when you buy one of equal or higher value.
